Erling Haaland has sportsbooks running for cover as his crazy goalscoring exploits send odds crashing on all kinds of soccer betting lines in his early days for Manchester City.
The Norwegian phenom returned from a month off (Norway did not make the recent World Cup in Qatar) for this week’s Carabao Cup showdown with Liverpool, and it took him just 10 minutes to find the net to kick off a 3-2 win for the Blues. He then followed up with two goals on his return to Premier League action as City defeated Leeds 3-1 at Elland Road on Wednesday.
Haaland was the biggest transfer splash of the summer when he made a big-money move from German giants Borussia Dortmund to reigning English Premier League (EPL) champion Manchester City.
The smart money said Haaland would pile up a ton of goals for City, and the early signs suggest he will do that. He now has 20 (TWENTY) goals from just 14 completed Premier League games, including three hattricks.
City activated a release clause in Haaland’s contract with German Bundesliga giant Borussia Dortmund – meaning it was able to acquire him for the crazy low price of €60million (just under $63million). His contract of course will bump that total cost up significantly (reportedly $24million per season). Still it seems like terrific value.

When Haaland joined City in the summer, you could bet him at +275 odds (bet $100 to win $275) to be top scorer in the EPL. Well, not any more.
The odds for Haaland to be EPL top scorer this season are slightly bigger after his scoring surge slowed just a little in late October and early November. He is now a red-hot -800 favorite (bet $800 to win $100).
A pretty distant second favorite after Haaland is Tottenham’s England star Harry Kane. He is seven goals behind on 13 for the season, and a long way behind in the odds at +1000.

Not surprisingly, Erling’s numbers – not just his goals – are pretty outrageous.
He’s played 14 games like we said and already has 20 goals. Through those 14 games he has had 60 shots, 33 of them on target. Of those 33, 20 found the net and 2 hit the woodwork. Haaland also has 3 assists.
According to the official EPL website, he has missed 9 big chances. Not sure how they define those!

So this is the major MVP award for the English Premier League which is voted for by the players. So a bit like the Pro Bowl until they messed about by adding fan votes.
Haaland was the preseason favorite to win this award too, at odds of +400 with bet365. Those odds are long gone now – best available is -300 again with bet365. Next after Erling is his City teammate Kevin de Bruyne at +600.
Haaland odds to be Champions League Top Scorer
Erling is heading just about every betting line you can imagine, and the UEFA Champions League is no different.
The Norwegian does not top the standings right now, but he still heads the Futures line to be there at the end of the season.
