Reigning World Champion Max Verstappen arrives back home in Monaco (most of the F1 drivers actually live there because they don’t pay any tax. Nice) on top of the 2022 Championship standings after three consecutive race victories in Imola, Miami and then Spain last weekend.
The Dutchman has been dominant, and would likely have got pole for last Sunday’s race in Barcelona had he not experienced technical issues. It didn’t matter anyway – he still came out the winner.
Ferrari meanwhile, for whom Charles Leclerc had won two of the first three races of the season, is not quite as hot right now.
Monaco Grand Prix 2022 Odds
Okay so here’s the thing, and we are struggling with this – in a good way. Verstappen, dominant right now, three straight wins behind him, is NOT THE FAVORITE for Sunday’s race.
Nope, instead Leclerc heads the betting line with the race weekend due to get under way in a couple of days.
The latest and best odds are:
- +110 Charles Leclerc (Widely available)
- +150 Max Verstappen (SugarHouse, Unibet)
- +2000 Carlos Sainz (DraftKings)
- +2000 Lewis Hamilton (DraftKings)
- +2000 George Russell (DraftKings)
- +2500 Sergio Perez (DraftKings)
Yep, crazy, and so to our weekend picks…
Monaco Grand Prix Predictions & Best Bets
Our expert advice is free people, and it is time to bet early ahead of Sunday’s race. This value may not be around much longer.
Like we said, we are stunned Verstappen is not heading into the weekend as race favorite – he’s proven the 2022 Red Bull has the pace over a single lap and in race trim too.
The other thing to factor in here is who builds the Red Bull car every year – a genius called Adrian Newey. Basically this guy is the most important in the sport outside of the drivers. He builds cars that are so aerodynamic, drivers fall over themselves for the chance to get in that seat.
Even in the years Red Bull has had a really bad car on most circuits, it’s still been really competitive in Monaco – remember Daniel Ricciardo outperforming every single year when he was part of the team. That’s because in Monaco it was all about downforce and design – not raw speed and power.
Put simply, we expect the Red Bull to again be the car to beat this weekend, and the early odds are just too good to pass up. Pole on Saturday is super important, but if Verstappen gets it the ballgame is over. And we win…
