When does the Premier League play its games?
The Premier League season – at least pre-pandemic – runs from August through to May. There are 20 teams in the league and each team plays the other 19 both home and away. A total of 38 games for each team.
Most of the games take place on weekends, starting around lunchtime in the UK (breakfast time in the U.S.). There are also some night games during the week – with high-profile matchups often taking place on Mondays and Fridays.
How can I watch the Premier League on TV in the U.S.?
NBC holds the U.S. TV rights for the English Premier League. You can watch most of the games on NBCSN and the Peacock streaming service, while some games are screened on NBC as well.
How are the standings calculated in the Premier League?
Any team which wins a Premier League game receives three points in the standings. You get nada for losing. If the game ends in a draw after the full 90 minutes then both teams get one point each.
The team with the most points at the end of the season wins the Premier League title. The top four teams go into the UEFA Champions League for next season while after that there are Europa League places available.
How does promotion and relegation work in the Premier League?
The bottom three teams in the Premier League standings at the end of the season are all relegated to the next division down – the Championship.
They are replaced by the teams who finish in the top two Championship positions, and the winner of a four-team playoff between those franchises who finish between third and sixth.
