A classic Monday night NFL betting matchup awaits with Dallas vs Philadelphia on slate, and while the Cowboys are favored its the Eagles who are making a splash in the public betting.
Dallas, which heads into its home opener at AT&T Stadium with a 1-1 record after beating the Chargers, opened up a four-point favorite early last week. Now though that advantage has been shaved to -3.5, while Philly is +3.5 from +4.
Dallas is now known as America’s team for nothing, and the ‘Boys account for 71 percent of all bets with PointsBet, but its the Eagles who account for most of the handle with 60 percent. The wise guys like the road team here.
The Eagles are also 1-1 heading into a crucial NFC East divisional battle, coming off a home loss to San Francisco last weekend.
Injury report
Both teams have already suffered big injury losses, with Dallas without star DE Demarcus Lawrence for multiple weeks with a broken foot. Eagles pass rusher Brandon Graham meanwhile is gone for the year with a torn Achilles.
Much will depend Monday night on the health of Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper, who has a rib injury going into the game. He has been stellar against Philly in Arlington in the past, but how will he fare with that injury?
Hurts factor is intriguing
The Eagles will again start Jalen Hurts at quarterback and his intriguing mix of passing talent and ability to stretch the field with his legs could have a field day against an undermanned Dallas defense.
The one bright spot for the Dallas ‘D’ is the play of rookie first-round draft pick Micah Parsons. The former Penn State linebacker was moved to edge last week after Lawrence went down and was a beast vs the Chargers, registering a sack, four quarterback hits and a tackle for loss.
