The English Premier League is probably the hottest soccer betting property in the world, and we have predictions every single game week for you. From money line to first goalscorer to over/under goals, we cover everything in detail.
Predictions & Picks This Week
Liverpool vs Man City (Sunday October 16, 11.30am ET)
The Premier League’s game of the year so far goes down on Merseyside on Sunday morning Eastern Time, and what a matchup it is.
For once in recent years ago we have teams headed in different directions, rather than fighting to the death at the top of the standings.
Liverpool goes into this game a massive 13 points behind City in the standings, and it really is last chance saloon at Anfield on Sunday. Even now the task of closing that gap is massive, another loss and surely the ballgame is over.
The Reds have really struggled so far this season to hit top gear, but their confidence should be boosted even a little by that astonishing seven-goal burst in the Champions League at Rangers in midweek.
The famed Anfield atmosphere makes it mighty difficult for opposing teams to win, and that amazing 4-1 City win in early 2021 was the exception rather than the rule.
We expect Liverpool to raise their game here – they just have to – and claim a point from a game in which both teams find the net. It’s difficult to imagine a scenario where they don’t.
The forward power on show here is off the charts – headed of course by the unstoppable (until now) Norwegian Erling Haaland. But it is not like Liverpool are without superstars of their own.
If you push us for a correct score prediction we’ll take 2-2, but instead of betting that we’ll go Over 1.5 Home goals – there is no point in Liverpool sitting back here. They have to attack, fun times.
OddsCritic Predictions
- Liverpool vs Man City Draw at +310 (DraftKings, FanDuel)
- Over 1.5 Home Goals at +133 (Unibet, BetRivers)

Just a reminder folks that we do not charge for our betting predictions. Our expert analysis is totally free and gratis.
Our predictions and picks come from experts who have been producing in-depth analysis of the European and world game for decades – put simply they’ve got this.
Money Line Betting
The simplest soccer bet of all, you are betting just on the result of the game – nothing else. So one of the two teams to win, or a Draw. How much you win depends on the odds of course.
For more details on how to bet on soccer, check out our simple guide.
Over/Under Goals
This is a really popular bet market, and one we’ll look to capitalize on regularly on this page.
Here you are betting on how many goals will be scored. Not an exact guess – just more or less than the relevant betting line. The same as Over/Under on total points in the NFL for example.
For example if Manchester United is playing Liverpool, if you go over a 2.5 line and the final score is 2-1 to Liverpool – you win.
Sportsbooks offer multiple lines, all with different odds. So the further you go away from what they expect – the bigger the odds.
Goalscorer Betting
Really popular betting lines are around who scores the goals. Basically it can give you an interest right through the game.
You can bet in a number of ways here:
- First Goalscorer: Like it says on the tin, you are betting on a player. to score the first goal in the game.
- Last Goalscorer: Again, self-explanatory. Your pick scores the last goal – you win.
- Anytime Goalscorer: Worse odds, but interest all the way. Your pick just has to score at any time in the game.
You can also bet certain players (normally the forwards like Ronaldo and co) to score multiple goals. So potentially bet on the to score 2, 3 or more. Obviously you’ll get better odds the higher you go.
Handicap Betting
This is like betting against the spread in American pro sports. The sportsbooks will give one of the teams a start based on how they think the game will finish up. As with over/under goals, you decide which side to pick.
Also known as ‘Asian Handicap’ betting, again you will get different options for each game. For example if Leeds is playing Chelsea you might be able to bet Chelsea -1.75 goals. In this scenario Chelsea needs to win by 2 for you to collect.
Premier League Props
This is a really fun way to get involved with betting on Premier League.
There are ton of props (proposition bets) available for every Premier League – basically looking at anything bar the result of the game.
So it could be whether a player will complete X number of passes, or how many corners a certain team will have. Crazy stuff and all to give you an interest throughout the 90 minutes of play.
Premier League Futures
This is where you place long-term bets – so you can bet on who wins the Premier League at the end of season before it even begins. There are pretty nice odds available if you are confident about who you think will win.
The Top Scorer market is another red-hot betting proposition – especially with the likes of Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku back in the league to take on the likes of Harry Kane and Salah.
When is the English Premier League?
The season normally starts in August and runs right through to the following May.
There are 20 teams in the league, and they play each other twice – once at home, once on the road. That means each team plays 38 games. Each game gives three points for a win, one for a draw or tie, and nothing for a loss.
If two teams finish level at the end of the season the team with the best goal difference finishes ahead (ie the goal differential – if it scores 60 and concedes 20 it is +40). If they are still tied on that, it’s the amount of goals they have scored.
How to watch the Premier League on TV
There are a ton of games every week, with most normally taking place on a Saturday (early morning in the US, then the bulk of the games at 10am ET and then the later game at lunchtime in the U.S.). There are also Sunday games, Monday night games (local time) plus some midweek and Friday games.
NBC has the rights to show games in the U.S. and it does so across NBC, NBCSN, USA Network, Telemundo and Universo. The games are also streamed via Peacock. Check out weekly listings to see which games are where.
For games which are aired on NBC and NBCSN, you can also stream them on the NBC Sports website and the NBC Sports app.
Premier League champions
That era of Manchester United dominance between 1993 and 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson is now firmly in the rear-view mirror.
Cash-rich Manchester City (five titles in the last 10 seasons) and Chelsea (two in the last decade) have dominated in recent years, along with a resurgent Liverpool. The one time a smaller club won the league came when Leicester defied ridiculous odds in 2016.
The last 10 winners of the Premier League are as follows:
- 2020-21: Manchester City
- 2019-20: Liverpool
- 2018-19: Manchester City
- 2017-18: Manchester City
- 2016-17: Chelsea
- 2015-16: Leicester City
- 2014-15: Chelsea
- 2013-14: Manchester City
- 2012-13: Manchester United
- 2011-12: Manchester City
