Later in the day the Rams climbed out of a 17-7 fourth-quarter hole to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 at SoFi.

Who is most likely to win Super Bowl MVP?
Quite simply recent history, football politics and the odds suggest it will be one of the two quarterbacks.
In recent years the position is even more dominant when it comes to handing our Super Bowl MVP honors, with rule changes meaning the passing game rules over everything else.
We’ll provide predictions closer to gametime, but our advice would be be to go with multiple picks for the big game. Take one of the quarterbacks as your banker – from whichever team you favor to win.
Then look at a player who is likely to provide huge splash plays – maybe in the passing game or maybe wrecking the game defensively (Von Miller has history here, winning the award when Denver defeated Carolina in Super Bowl L).
Super Bowl MVP Public Betting
So this is interesting – Burrow and Stafford do not lead the way as of right now. We have a DT accounting for most bets in the shape of Rams megastar Aaron Donald.
We have access to PointsBet figures so far, and here they are (up to Saturday February 12):
Player | Odds | % Of Bet Count |
Aaron Donald (DT, Rams) | +1400 | 20.3% |
Joe Burrow (QB, Bengals) | +220 | 11.8% |
Matthew Stafford (QB, Rams) | +125 | 10.7% |
Cooper Kupp (WR, Rams) | +450 | 9.4% |
Odell Beckham Jr (WR, Rams) | +3300 | 6.6% |
See above – right now Rams QB Matthew Stafford is the favorite to win MVP at Super Bowl LVI. If you mean ‘best’ in the context of who might win, then check back closer to gametime when we’ll give you our (free) predictions and picks.
Only once, and that was Dallas LB Chuck Howley as the ‘Boys dropped a heartbreaker 16-13 to the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl V.
See above, the winning team has provided the MVP in 54 of 55 Super Bowl games so far. Howley is the only outlier.
Probably not as many times as you’d imagine – 31 times in 55 games so far. But remember, the QB position has become way more valuable in recent years. QBs have won MVP in 7 of the last 10 Super Bowls. After quarterback, WR and RB are the most successful positions overall, with 7 MVP awards each.
Only once, and again it was the Dallas Cowboys. Harvey Martin and Randy White shared the award in Super Bowl XII as the Cowboys Doomsday Defense dominated the Denver Broncos in the Superdome in New Orleans.
No real surprise here – the GOAT Tom Brady leads the way with 5 Super Bowl MVP awards, four with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Next is San Francisco 49ers legend Joe Montana with 3 while Bart Starr (Green Bay Packers), Terry Bradshaw (Pittsburgh Steelers) and Eli Manning (New York Giants) all won 2 each.
