Brilliant young McLaren driver Lando Norris has committed his F1 future to the UK team by inking a new contract which is reportedly worth more than $100million.
The deal, which goes through the 2025 season, puts him up towards the highest earners in the sport. It comes with rumors suggesting big guns Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari all considered making a play to sign the young Brit.
Lando Norris F1 Odds
The 24-year-old Norris is currently sixth in the betting odds to win the F1 World Championship in 2022 – he is trading at +2500 (bet $100 to win $2500). Lewis Hamilton, who appears set to return in a bid for an eighth title, is the +150 favorite as we approach the new season.
The 22-year-old Norris had a stellar 2021 season – and he came agonizingly close to a maiden Grand Prix win in Russia. In total Lando claimed four podiums and a first ever pole position. He finished sixth in the driver standings.
McLaren on new Norris deal
“The opportunity to extend our relationship with Lando reflects not only our commitment but our belief and confidence in his talent,” said McLaren Team Principal Andreas Seidl.
“It is also a strong sign of trust and commitment from Lando in us as a team and our journey to World Championship contention.”
Norris meanwhile is excited by the next chapter of his McLaren development, explaining: “Last season was another great step, both in my career and the team’s performance, and I see and feel all the work, investment and commitment for the team to be in a position to challenge for wins and titles in the future.
“This all gives me huge confidence looking forward, so it was a natural decision to extend our relationship for the next few years.”
