The New York Jets are in danger of missing out on a playoff berth after another agonizing loss, this time to the Detroit Lions at MetLife on Sunday.
Gang Green fell 20-17 to the surprising Lions and now sit at 7-7 with three games remaining in the regular season. Right now the Jets are on the outside of the playoff places, one game back from the Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Dolphins.
There is no rest for New York with a quick turnaround ahead of a home game vs the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football (8.15pm ET, Amazon Prime Video).
Jaguars vs Jets Odds & Predictions
This is a massive game for the Jets, and they are a 1.5-point favorite despite the fact that Mike White is again out and Zach Wilson will once more get the start at QB.
The Jags of course are on a high right now after that terrific overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. And QB Trevor Lawrence is looking more and more like the generational talent we all expected.
This could be tough sledding for Gang Green and here are our big-game picks and best bets.
Garrett Wilson Over 55.5 Receiving Yards (-110, bet365)
Garrett’s line has been in the 60s in recent weeks, and we are not sure why it is only 55.5 here.
Wilson even managed to catch 4 passes from his namesake Zach for 98 yards last Sunday in that agonizing loss to the Detroit Lions. The pair had struggled to connect earlier in the season but now they are starting to gel.
Garrett has smashed this line in 6 out of his last 7 games and we have every confidence that he will get open against a porous Jags secondary which ranks only #28 vs the pass.
New York Jets Super Bowl Odds
Despite all the promise, NOBODY expects the Jets to win Super Bowl LVII – least of all the online sportsbooks.
Now 7-6 on the season, New York is available at +20000 with PointsBet to win it all next February.
What Odds are the Jets to win the AFC East?
The Jets can no longer win the AFC East and Buffalo’s win over Miami last Saturday night pretty much settled the race, period.
The 11-3 Bills are now three games clear of the 8-6 Dolphins with three games remaining. No wonder Buffalo is a lock with sportsbooks at -10000 (bet $10000 to win $100).
Latest AFC East odds are as follows:
- -10000 Buffalo Bills (Widely available)
- +5500 Miami Dolphins (FanDuel)

Jets to make the playoffs – what are the Odds?
Few expected the Jets to make the playoffs in 2022 – least of all those wise guy sportsbooks. They are still a long way from certain to get in and the odds still reflect that.

Jets record Against The Spread in 2022

Jets Strength Of Schedule in 2022

New York Jets Draft Picks in 2022
Gardner significantly upgraded the defense while Wilson to Wilson should be a big deal in the NFL for years to come. The Jets finally have a true WR1. The chance to trade up and snag a falling star in Jermaine Johnson was just too good to pass up – stellar opening night for New York.
The Jets continued to have a fine draft on Friday, picking up another first-round talent in Iowa State RB Breece Hall. Maybe not a need, but an excellent prospect. File Ruckert under the same description.
All in all, Joe Douglas the Jets aced it. Now we’ll find out if these guys can actually play – but the signs so far are pretty positive:
- Round 1: 4 overall – Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner (CB, Cincinnati)
- Round 1: 10 overall – Garrett Wilson (WR, Ohio State)
- Round 1: 26 overall – Jermaine Johnson (DE, Florida State)
- Round 2: 36 overall – Breece Hall (RB, Iowa State)
- Round 4: 101 overall – Jeremy Ruckert (TE, Ohio State)
- Round 4: 111 overall – Max Mitchell (OT, Louisiana)
- Round 4: 117 overall – Micheal Clemons (DE, Texas A&M)
It’s currently +20000 that the Jets shock the world in Glendale next February. A $100 bet would net you winnings of $20,000 if the unthinkable did happen. That’s 200/1 in fractional odds.
New York is +400 with PointsBet to make postseason play and -550 to miss out on a playoff berth.
