Another agonizing near miss for Paul’s Parlay fans last weekend as West Ham vs Chelsea failed to give us the expected EPL soccer goalfest.
Leeds vs Man Utd was a tick with Under 2.5 goals while Leicester covered Over 1.5 Goals thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho’s rocket on Monday night football.
So we are in the ballpark, we just need to close one out. We’re confident ahead of this weekend, and ready to rumble…
Why Paul’s Parlay?
Why should you trust Paul’s Parlays? Pretty simple really – years and years of experience.
Paul Arizona is soccer expert par excellence – there are few better. He cut his teeth writing for some of the biggest soccer brands in Europe, and now he’s taken his talents across the pond.
This column is the first of many, and we’ll keep a running check of how he is performing overall. Remember, our job is to help you win cash…
And now to the games.
Saturday May 1: Crystal Palace v Manchester City (0830 ET, NBCSN)
As we get closer to the end of the season, the more meaningless some of the games become. So picking a winner in the W/D/L market is mighty tricky.
But let’s first of all ignore all that and focus on Manchester City, who are in between the two legs of their Champions League semi-final with Paris Saint-Germain and even though they hold a lead, all of their focus is on that match.
This is a game against a Palace team simply looking not to tank in a run-in where it can’t get relegated. I expect this to be a careful, low-key match in which City will look to emerge with no injuries and without defeat. So that puts goals in the shade. Let’s go Under 2.5.
Pick: Under 2.5 goals at +115
Saturday May 1: Brighton v Leeds (1000 ET, NBCSN)
Leeds is a different proposition on the road in terms of attacking exploits. We noted last week that at home they prefer to keep things tight. They have scored six more goals on the road than at home and have been involved in a 4-3, a 4-1, a 4-2 and a 6-2.
So we have to bet on goals here against a Brighton team which regularly creates plenty of scoring chances and are well down on their xG this season. That form will turn eventually and we are interested in both teams to score here. It’s the favorite at -148, but we reckon this should be a pretty sure thing.
Pick: Both teams to score at -148
Saturday May 1: Chelsea v Fulham (1330 ET, NBCSN)
Chelsea is still very much in prime position for the Champions League positions in fourth but will need to keep winning.
With Fulham almost relegated now, there could be an air of dejection around Scott Parker’s men and Chelsea also has places to play for ahead of a crunch second leg of the Champions League tie with Real Madrid.
Thomas Tuchel’s men are a little tight at -210 just to win the contest, so we expect if they do they’ll score more than one.
Pick: Chelsea over 1.5 team goals at -162
